Kemet partners with Coinbase to power institutional derivatives trading

Kemet is partnering with Coinbase to bring institutional-grade derivatives execution to one of the most important venue stacks in crypto. As part of the partnership, Coinbase Ventures has made a strategic investment in Kemet, and we’ve been designated as a non-exclusive preferred OEMS vendor for Coinbase institutional clients seeking advanced order execution and multi-venue routing.

Through this integration, institutional clients can now execute sophisticated derivatives strategies across Coinbase Exchange, Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, Coinbase International Exchange, and Deribit — all through Kemet’s unified OEMS and PMS platform.

Why this partnership matters

Coinbase’s acquisition of Deribit gave them the most comprehensive derivatives venue stack in crypto, spanning spot, US-regulated futures, perpetual futures, and options. But for institutional desks running sophisticated derivatives strategies — multi-leg options, spread trades, delta-hedged positions — venue access alone isn’t enough. These desks need the workflow layer that turns those venues into a unified institutional stack.

That’s the gap Kemet fills.

We started Kemet on the bet that crypto derivatives infrastructure would eventually need to look more like traditional markets — with proper OEMS, PMS, smart routing, and real-time risk management — and that the platform that delivered this would become foundational as institutional capital flowed into the asset class. Coinbase choosing us as their preferred OEMS partner for institutional derivatives is meaningful validation of that thesis.

What this means for institutional traders

The partnership delivers a unified execution and risk management workflow across the full Coinbase derivatives stack:

  • Multi-leg options strategies. Construct, execute, and manage complex options structures — spreads, condors, butterflies, custom strategies — across Deribit and Coinbase’s other venues from a single interface.
  • Smart order routing. Intelligent venue selection across spot, futures, and options markets to optimize execution quality based on real-time liquidity and pricing conditions.
  • Automated delta hedging. Real-time risk management with automatic hedge execution across crypto venues, allowing desks to maintain delta-neutral positions without manual intervention.
  • Spread trading algorithms. Institutional-grade execution algorithms for working spreads, calendar rolls, and basis trades — capabilities that have been standard in traditional markets but largely absent from crypto-native platforms.
  • Real-time portfolio and risk management. Unified position visibility and risk analytics across all integrated venues, with the depth institutional desks require to manage complex derivatives books.

An open, multi-broker platform

Kemet is built as an open, multi-broker platform. We integrate deeply with Coinbase’s venues while continuing to support institutional clients trading across the full crypto venue landscape. This partnership reinforces Kemet’s positioning as the workflow layer for institutional derivatives.

For institutional clients onboarding to the combined Coinbase-Deribit platform following the acquisition, Kemet provides the execution and risk infrastructure that lets them put the venue stack to work for sophisticated derivatives strategies from day one.

What’s next

The integration is live across all four Coinbase venues as of today. Existing Kemet clients can access Coinbase liquidity immediately through their existing platform setup. New clients can be onboarded through Kemet’s standard institutional onboarding process.

Beyond the immediate integration, we’re working closely with Coinbase on the broader institutional derivatives roadmap — including the Deribit migration onto the combined platform through the rest of 2026.
